Alle Jahre wieder, so ab Ende Juni bis in den späten August hinein tut es sich auf, das große Sommerloch bei den Medien. Man sollte meinen, wenn die Hälfte der Deutschen ohnehin auf Malle oder am Strand in Westerland weilt, macht auch die Hälfte der Journalisten Ferien. Das hätte dann die logische Konsequenz, dass die daheimgebliebenen Vertreter der schreibenden, sprechenden oder filmenden Zunft genug zu tun hätten, das politische Sommertheater abzuarbeiten. Aber, so scheint es, da sind doch noch eine ganze Reihe unterbeschäftigter Praktikanten, die das Sommerloch füllen müssen.
Pünktlich zur Sommerlochzeit erscheint deshalb immer das Thema „Benzinklau“ oder Amtsdeutsch „Tankbetrug“ auf der Medienbühne. So erlebt in der vorletzten Juliwoche, als plötzlich im Minutentakt die geballte Phalanx der bundesdeutschen Reporter bei mir anklingelte und wissen wollte, ob das mit dem Benzinklau denn wirklich so schlimm sei und vor allem, ob die wieder mal hohen Preise (schließlich haben wir ja Ferienzeit! Ha Ha) diese Taten nicht befördere. Hintergrund war eine an dem Tag veröffentliche Studie des Internetportals auto.de zum Thema Tankbetrug. Offenbar ein Volltreffer ins Sommerloch.
Meine erste Gegenfrage lautete bei jedem Anruf: „Es ist wieder Sommer, oder?“ Eine Frage, die angesichts der verregneten letzten Wochen durchaus ernsten Charakters hätte sein können. Daraufhin gaben die meisten gerne zu, dass das Thema etwas abgedroschen sei. Aber da sei ja diese neue Studie und die sagt aus, dass das Phänomen wegen der steigenden Benzinpreise zunimmt und dass es besondere Schandflecke in Deutschland gebe, wie beispielsweise Köln oder Berlin. Meine Antwort: Alles nichts Neues!
Nur zur Klarstellung: Ich gehe auf das Thema durchaus ernsthaft ein, aber nur insofern, als ich die steigende Aufklärungsquote lobe und dass dadurch das Risiko für die Täter wachse. Und ich geißele sie Bagatellisierung dieser Straftaten, die insbesondere durch eine wenig verantwortungslose Berichterstattung gefördert wird. O-Ton eines Berliner Lokalsenders: „Die Benzindiebstähle haben wieder zugenommen. Ist ja auch kein Wunder bei den Preisen“ Mit solchen flapsig dahingeworfenen Sätzen wird suggeriert: Ist ja nicht so schlimm, an der Tankstelle nicht zu zahlen. Es trifft ja keinen Armen und schon gar keinen Unschuldigen.
Das Thema ist ein echtes Ärgernis. Der angerichtete Schaden ist enorm. Das alles ist schlimm genug. Die dadurch entstehenden Kosten für Strafverfolgung und Investitionen in Überwachungsanlagen schlagen sich am Ende natürlich auch im Kraftstoffpreis nieder. Aber ganz sicher ist es kein Thema, bei dem man mit billiger Effekthascherei seine Zeitung füllen sollte. Das Internetportal auto.de hatte den Bogen jedenfalls raus, gerade dieses Thema im Sommerloch zu platzieren. Das kam gerade richtig. Böses dem, der Böses dabei denkt!
