Die Bilder sind uns allen noch in den Köpfen – leere Fahrbahnen an den Tankstellen im Brandenburgischen, dafür lange Fahrzeugschlangen vor den Zapfsäulen an den Tankstellen auf polischer Seite. Die Preisunterschiede beim Kraftstoff zwischen Deutschland und Polen waren so hoch, dass sich Anfahrten selbst von weiter her zu polischen Tankmöglichkeiten für den finanzbewussten deutschen Autofahrer bezahlt machten. Die Tankstellen auf deutscher Seite litten dementsprechend unter den kräftig zurückgehenden Absatzmengen. Im Grenzgebiet zu Polen ging dementsprechend die Zahl der Tankstellen von vormals 181 auf nunmehr 116 Anlagen zurück.

 

Wer nun nach Polen kommt mit dem Vorsatz, dort mal wieder richtig preisgünstig tanken zu können, sieht sich schnell eines Besseren belehrt. Der Unterschied zwischen dem Superbenzinpreis in Frankfurt/Oder und dem im benachbarten polnischen Slubice beträgt gerade einmal 5 Cent/l. Beim Diesel fällt die Differenz mit 3 Cent/l noch geringer aus. Da an vielen Tankstellen auf polnischer Seite Gebühren erhoben werden auf Kartenzahlungen oder beim Bezahlen mit dem Euro, ist das Tanken an polischen Tankstellen im Vergleich zu deutschen Tankstellen in Summe oftmals kostspieliger.
